# GENERAL INFORMATION

* Title of Dataset: Life-history traits of the SA27 clone of English grain aphid on Luteovirus mavhordei infected barley plants
* Description of Dataset: An assessment of life-history traits linked to Sitobion avenae grown on barley plants infected with Luteovirus mavhordei. The objectives of this study were to utilize age-stage, two-sex life table theory to examine the life-history traits of a widespread clonal lineage of S. avenae when grown on plants infected with barley yellow dwarf virus. The experiment involved placing a first-instar nymph into an aerated clip cage on a individual plant infected with Luteovirus mavhordei

# METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION

## Description of methods used for collection/generation of data:
The overall methodology used for data collection and analysis of this experiment is the same as that described in the following paper:

Mostafiz, M.M., Güncan, A., Schughart, M., Byrne, S. and McNamara, L., 2025. Life history and fitness costs in the lambda‐cyhalothrin resistant clone of English grain aphid, Sitobion avenae (Fabricius). Pest Management Science.

The following Aphid clone was utilised in the experiment: SA27 (Sitobion avenae); Virus strain: BYDV-MAV (Irish isolate); Virus status: Confirmed using RT-LAMP assay; Host plant: Barley (Hordeum vulgare cv. LG Casting); Plant stage: Two-leaf stage at start of experiment; Experimental unit: One first-instar nymph per plant (1 replicate); Number of replicates: 36; Observations: Daily monitoring from birth to death.

## Methods for processing the data:
The data were processed using TWOSEX-MSChart software with input file TWOSEX_MSChart_Input.txt. The approach is based on the method described in:

Chi, H., 1988. Life-table analysis incorporating both sexes and variable development rates among individuals. Environmental Entomology, 17(1), pp.26-34.

Parameters estimated: Age-stage survival rate (sₓⱼ); Age-specific survival (lₓ) and fecundity (mₓ); Life expectancy (eₓⱼ); Reproductive value (vₓⱼ); Intrinsic rate of increase (r); Finite rate of increase (λ); Net reproductive rate (R₀); Mean generation time (T)

## Instrument- or software-specific information needed to interpret the data:
Software: TWOSEX-MSChart (Ver. 07.06.2024)

* Environmental/experimental conditions if appropriate: 24 ± 1 °C, 55 ± 5 % RH, 16:8 h (L:D) photoperiod
